Nice photos, Kit. I traveled here from Grace's blog for the first time and was just reading about your boys and their big messes (I'll comment here since they're buried in the past posts now). We have similar mess issues, but I make a point of not cleaning up for the kids. I encourage clean up at various points during the way and am usually willing to help as long as the boys are working alongside me. About 10 minutes before bath time it's our final clean-up for the day and we don't get in the bath until it's done -- so not cleaning shortens bathing and reading time, which is treasured time for the boys. But that's just a logical consequence we can point out to them when needed. I've also started trying to get the boys to do a late afternoon super-fast clean-up with me to surprise daddy with our clean house when he gets home from work. In our house it is a surprise...
I enjoyed the "20 Alternatives to Punishment" you linked to -- and may link to that from my blog soon too. #19 resonated with me especially...
@ Bird: Thank you!! I like them all of course, but I've always been a little partial to the first two, for some reason. :)
@ Annie Addington: Yes, the trick really is for me to clean up alongside the boys. . . unfortunately, I just can't always do that! Especially with Babyman following his own little schedule, it seems I am always called away by something important. I am shooting for a more scheduled clean-up time when I can be present. I think that will help.
I'm a scattered, relatively sleepless and eternally behind mommy to three fantastic little boys. . . and they make everything worth it. (Sappy, but true) :)
Littleman: 9
the Pirate, aka Mr. Sweetcheeks: 7
Babyman: 5
Unless otherwise specified, all the photographs on this site were taken by me with my trusty little Nikon Coolpix 4200 point-and-shoot. The lens is getting rickety and the battery door is held on with a rubber band, but it's still working. If I manage to do any editing at all, it's very basic- I might crop or adjust the exposure a little, for instance. If you wish to reproduce any of my photos in any way, please just be courteous and ask my permission first. I'd be flattered. Thank you.

Wow, but you have an eye! I love the backlit branch behind the mossy wood and the two coloured ropes with the rusty fan best.

And isn't that a great list?
